A blog (also called weblog) is similar to website where you publish articles around a niche or a topic. The articles appear in the reverse chronological order. Which means that your latest article will appear at the top.
And your oldest, cringey (Don’t take me wrong! I am just sharing a real, embarrassing but sweet truth only…) will appear in the bottom most. This is basically the answer to “What is a blog?”

Since I have already talked about what is a blog so let’s now talk about its purpose. There are multiple reasons why people start a blog. Some start as a hobby. Whereas some start with a business mindset.
Or with an intent to build their personal brand just like me. Well even when you start with a personal branding mindset, you could yourself as a business blogger only.
Why Do People Blog?
Hmm. Great Anwesha. I got your point. Now I know what is a blog. Blogs are probably the best and the most effective medium to share your opinions in the field you are an expert of.
Or if you are documenting your journey for any XYZ thing. And for most, blogging is actually an ideal way to make passive income. Although, again repeating, it isn’t a “get rich quick scheme”.

Earlier blogs looked really simple. Over time, the competition started rising and the audience looked at everything with a bird’s eye. Therefore bloggers got to work by designing their blogs in the most profesh way possible.
But here are a few common elements every blog’s design contain:
- Header (consisting menu or the navigation bar)
- Content Area (consisting articles in chronological order)
- Sidebar (consisting social media handles, recent posts, call to action etc)
- Footer (consisting disclaimer, privacy, contact, best guides etc)
Note: These elements are the most basic. You could always put your most innovative ideas into designing your blog. But definitely, I must save you from wasting your time making your blog look perfect. There’s no point, focus on the meat.

That you aren’t gonna make a single dollar on the first day. It takes time and traffic and authority and efforts and consistency.
Does Anyone Read Blogs Anymore?
I could answer your this question only when you answer my one question. What are you reading right now? A blog? Yup. With the rising popularity of the audio and video platforms, you might think that blogging is dead.
And no one reads blogs anymore. But that’s not the truth, and textual content is still preferred in large numbers. And see, blogs could possibly evolve with time but they aren’t disappearing anywhere.
Can I Earn Money From Free Blog?
To be honest, I never got an “exact” answer to this question. But I have to say that if your main goal is to turn blogging into a business, consider investing in WordPress.org. You might get to make money blogging for free but that revenue won’t be maximized.
Should I Start A Blog Or YouTube Channel?
Judge yourself. Test out writing a 1000 word article and filming yourself for 10 mins. See what comes more naturally to you. If you enjoy being on camera, go for YouTube.
If you enjoy writing, go for blogging. Best idea would be to start both just like what I have implemented. Both are profitable. And they deserve your time and efforts.
